‘Founded in 1908, Sandhurst Silver Band is a contesting band currently competing in the 1st section. Funding comes from a mix of members’ subs, payment for engagements and concerts, and grants and donations from firms, councils and individuals ... We stage public concerts several times a year, featuring a mix of light and more serious music, and we are available for hire year-round for fetes, bandstand engagements and private gatherings ... Membership of the band is open to anyone, without discrimination on grounds of age, gender, race etc. Beginners and players who have not yet attained the standard required to play at the level of the main band are offered the opportunity to develop their skills within our non-contesting band, Sandhurst Community Brass.'
