‘Successful competing band ... formed in 1936 and was originally known as the Fishponds British Legion Band. Throughout the band’s history they have performed at many venues across the width and breadth of the UK ... The band changed their name in the early 1970's when their success had created questions from its now widespread audience of the whereabouts of “Fishponds”. From this date forward the band has performed under the name of its city of origin - “The City of Bristol Brass Band”.’
