Founded 1970: ‘Originally about 16 voices, the choir’s numbers have now doubled, but it remains a chamber choir, singing mainly “a cappella” music and occasionally pieces accompanied by organ or a small orchestra. The choir’s repertoire ranges from the Renaissance to the present day, and from the serious to lighter arrangements of popular music’.

'The Black Dyke Band is part of our National Heritage and during its long history has achieved an enviable reputation; with National as well as International fame. For almost 140 years Black Dyke was owned and financially supported by the textile company John Foster & Son plc of Queensbury. In 1996 the association with the Mill ceased when the Band became a registered charity; in recognition of this fact "MILLS" was dropped from the official name.'

Formed 1993: ‘A forty-strong, mixed voice choir, based in Bradford, West Yorkshire ... Primarily, we are a friendly group from a variety of backgrounds who enjoy singing together and socialising both in rehearsals and in performance. Our “mission” is to share our enjoyment of choral music and to widen people’s perception of choral singing in all its glorious variety. Through the leadership of our musical director, we have sought to challenge our singing experience and we now have an extensive repertoire ranging from full works to pieces lasting little over a minute. Each concert we give incorporates something for all tastes – sacred and secular, ancient and modern, serious and not so serious, popular and classical favourites - and all types in between ! We also have some accomplished soloists to help ring the changes’.

‘Saltaire is named after philanthropist Sir Titus Salt and the River Aire, which flows at the bottom of the village, near Roberts Park ... Inspired by opulent 15th century architecture, and commissioned by Sir Titus Salt as a “centre for recreation, culture and learning” for his villagers, Victoria Hall was designed by architects Lockwood and Mawson and opened in 1871 ... We’re proud to be home to Yorkshire’s finest Wurlitzer Cinema Organ, managed by the Cinema Organ Society. The Wurlitzer is beneath the Main Hall stage, with an array of beautiful pipework permanently sited under the stage, and the console rising on a hydraulic lift for performances and concerts ... The Cinema Organ Society promote regular theatre organ concerts and dances by top British and international artists, as well as by younger up-and-coming players. In addition to regular monthly events, the Wurlitzer is played several times a month by members of the society.‘
