‘Dorset's most exciting chamber choir, well known for its imaginative programming and engaging performances ...The choir relies heavily on the commitment, as well as the talents, of its members, who come from a wide area, travelling from Hampshire and Wiltshire as well as across Dorset to rehearse each week in Blandford. BSC performs in a wide range of places – the intimate historic churches of Dorset, abbeys and cathedrals across the south of England, concert halls and smaller secular venues ... Its repertoire includes sacred and secular music from the 16th to the 21st centuries and its concerts range from a cappella programmes to performances of the great choral works ... The choir has a particular interest in new music and regularly commissions works ...’

'The members of the orchestra are semi-professional and amateur musicians from all over Dorset and ... perform a wide selection from the classical repertoire. There have also been many successful joint ventures with local choral societies. As a local amateur orchestra they welcome membership enquiries from enthusiastic and committed players. The orchestra typically performs three concerts a year in different venues in Dorset. We usually have around five rehearsals for each concert; these take place on Saturday or Sunday afternoons ...'

'In 1976 Dorset Opera was registered as a charity with the object of presenting opera with professional soloists and orchestra, and at the same time giving large numbers of young people the opportunity to take part in the chorus and other production roles. Since then an opera has been performed every summer to much critical acclaim. For many young people this has been their first exposure to fully staged opera and is frequently the beginning of a lifelong passion.' Dorset Opera Festival held Late July.

‘A male voice choir based in Dorset UK. The Choir prides itself on its musical standard and warm camaraderie among its members. We make music together ... in a relaxed and congenial atmosphere while aspiring to a high level of performance. At some concerts we are joined by professional soloists, at others we might invite young musicians capable of performing to a professional standard. The Choir sings several concerts a year ... We are always pleased to welcome new singers, tenor or bass, and invite them to sit in at rehearsals to see for themselves if they would like to join us. Almost all do! There are no auditions, we believe most men who can hit and hold a note can become useful members of a choir. Come and see for yourself - and bring a friend!‘

'Bryanston has an outstanding musical tradition, and music is at the heart of school life in every aspect – socially, academically and spiritually. A focus on participation and performance ensures that music touches the lives of the whole school community. Inclusion as well as excellence is a core value, and to achieve this every pupil in the first year has instrumental or singing lessons for the entire year. Pupils perform in an extraordinary range of concerts, recitals and musical groups, and over 600 individual music lessons are taught each week.'
