Wickford, Essex: ‘We meet on the 2nd Friday of each month (except August) ... We normally have 10 performers each doing a 10 minute support spot, ranging from first timers through to professionals. It is a very popular club and the support spots are always oversubscribed, so you need to let us know well in advance if you'd like to perform!’

'We are a welcoming group of amateur singers with a warm friendly atmosphere and always looking for new members. Previous experience is not necessary. We sing a variety of great music – sacred, popular, folk and songs from the shows.'

‘The origins of the society go back to the 1930s when the organist at St. Mary’s Church, Langdon Hills, decided to stage Pirates of Penzance to keep the children in the church choir out of trouble at the weekends. Curiously then known as St. Mary’s Athletics Club, the society grew over the years to become first Laindon and District Amateur Operatic Society, and then more recently Basildon Operatic Society. The society performs in both shows and concerts, currently producing its annual show in late May. Then concerts over the summer and in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Originally BasOp’s shows were exclusively selected from Gilbert and Sullivan’s Savoy operas, but these days a good number of musicals are produced too.’

‘A top flight, traditional community brass band striving for excellence in performance ... We are a competing Championship Section Brass Band based in South Benfleet, Essex. We perform at numerous concerts, contests, charitable events, private functions and civic events each year.’

'A community-oriented organisation in south Essex, UK, playing British and international folk music throughout the region, often at community, charity or other fundraising events ... We want to bring folk music to as many people as possible, either as audience members or by involving them as participants. We welcome new players and encourage beginners and all levels of skill. There is a place for everyone who can play an instrument to some degree and who is prepared to join in and have some fun developing their potential.'

Towngate Theatre is the best place for live entertainment in Basildon! Featuring a varied line-up including live music, drama, family favourites, opera, ballet, musicals and more! We also have a popular café bar open on weekdays and prior to performances.’
