‘Music is often an expensive hobby and so many people therefore sadly never get the chance to learn an instrument. Some did not get the chance when they were young and others may have found it difficult to keep going with their instrument after leaving school when tutors can be so expensive. Here at the BCMA, we believe that everyone should get the opportunity to pick up an instrument and have that chance to create music. Whatever your age, wherever you come from and whatever your circumstances; music brings people together. Everyone is welcome here!’

‘One of the key events in our Summer of festivals’ programme ... A free family festival celebrating the best in English and World folk music and dance plus poetry, street theatre, art and family fun!‘ Held Mid June.

‘All pupils learning an instrument are invited to join a music ensemble, band or orchestra. Membership is free to pupils attending LBBD schools and having a CMS instrumental lesson (small charge for music centre pupils) ... It’s recommended that all pupils who learn an instrument should play in a school or music centre ensemble, band or orchestra. Performing and music making with other pupils is lots of fun and essential to a child’s music development. All pupils from the age of 7-18 are also invited to attend the Young Singers or Senior Singers. These sessions are held weekly and are open to all pupils attending LBBD schools who enjoy singing. There are no auditions but pupils will be expected to attend each week.’
