‘A charitable organisation which aims to support and promote music-making for young people in North West Derbyshire. Our principal activity is to bring young musicians together to experience playing in an ensemble at weekly term-time rehearsals. Motivated by talented ensemble directors, our players are able to develop their musical skills and to make new musical friends. We have wind and string ensembles which range from beginners and early years through to accomplished players and school leaving age ... Most of our ensembles meet in Buxton, Bakewell and the Hope Valley but some meet in nearby villages. There are also regular opportunities to perform - both in informal settings in front of friends and family and at prestigious public venues.’

'A flourishing music society based at the Cavendish Hall on the Chatsworth Estate. Its members enjoy a series of high quality chamber concerts throughout the autumn and spring each year. Tickets may be available on the door for some concerts ...'

'Friendly, mixed choir of around 80 members ... The choir performs four public concerts each year, including the popular Christmas Words & Music concert in December. Other concerts are a blend of sacred and secular choral music, covering a wide repertoire from classical to contemporary works including commissioned works for the Society.'

'Has been in existence ... since 1907 and it now enjoys the position of being Derbyshire's premier brass band. It has its roots in the community and combines the all important job of providing music for community and religious events in the town as well as hosting a number of its own concerts around the area. The band also enjoys contesting ... The band is self funding and is willing to take on musical engagements of all types ... Players on holiday in the Peak District are very welcome to attend rehearsals either to listen or play and with a little notice the band can loan out most instruments for visitors to use.'

Established in 1971 and currently has over 60 members. In addition to performing at least three concerts a year, the choir presents additional concerts in support of charitable events in Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. The Choir sings a wide range of music, from serious choral works to more light-hearted offerings. Baslow Choir also specialises in exploring the lesser-known parts of the choral repertoire.'

‘A non-competing band based in the Peak District village of Cressbrook, formed in 1880 ... The Band supports local villages playing for well dressings and galas during the summer. At Christmas the band plays at venues such as Cressbrook Hall and Peak Cavern. The band is a social band playing to enjoy brass band music, entertain and support local village events.’

'The Peak Wind Orchestra was founded in 2009 by three music graduates looking for a place to play. The original aim was to recruit advanced, post Grade 8, adult players to create a band that could rehearse twice monthly and still produce concerts of an extremely high standard.  Over the last decade this aim has been the driving force behind player recruitment and proudly the band has gone from strength to strength over the years.'

‘Set in the heart of the beautiful Peak District National Park, parts of the house date from the 12th Century, sitting like a jewel in its Elizabethan terraced gardens, and overlooking the River Wye ... Haddon Hall is becoming renowned for its varied programme of music held throughout the season ... Performances are held at 12.00 and 2.00 pm, providing time to enjoy lunch or tea in our Restaurant. These recitals can be enjoyed at leisure and are included with admission tickets.’
