+ Bristol Chamber Choir
Listing Details
‘A capella music from Palestrina to Part; neglected gems in the choral repertoire ... A small, long-established choir, singing in various venues around Bristol, from Tyntesfield to St George's, from village churches to “Bristol’s parish church”, St Stephen's.’ The Choir has flourished ‘under the auspices of the Bristol Madrigal Society’, founded in 1837, and a Society especially associated with the composer Robert Lucas Pearsall, who is ‘remembered now mainly for his immortal setting of the Christmas carol “In dulci jubilo” and for his lovely madrigal “Lay a garland”’.
